Be in the Virtual 2021 MLK Day Parade
Submissions Due Monday, Jan. 11

Monday, Jan. 18, as always, the City of Charleston will celebrate the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a parade. However, because of the ongoing pandemic, there won’t be an opportunity to have a large crowd gather downtown to celebrate the life, and work, of this civil rights pioneer.

The 2021 Dr. King Parade, presented by the YWCA of Greater Charleston, will be a virtual event, and you’re invited to participate! The theme of the event this year will be: “Restore the Dream. Repair our World.”

Bands, dance teams, choirs and musicians from schools, churches and businesses are welcome to submit a 3 to 5 minute video of their performance to be included in this year’s virtual parade.

Elected officials, community leaders and corporate spokespeople are invited to submit a 30 to 60 second address related to the 2021 MLK Theme: “Restore the Dream. Repair our World,” social justice, or Dr. King and his legacy.

You have until Monday, Jan. 11 to submit your performance or message. Our TV partner, Count On 2 News, is collecting those submissions, which can be made here.
