“Keep a Pure Heart” (Nehemiah 4:4)
Pastor Jan Perkins| Fishers by Faith Ministries

“Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity: And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders.”
– Nehemiah 4:4

Today, Pastor Jan Perkins continues his sermon on persistence through adversity in Nehemiah 4 with a strong caution against allowing the devil a foothold in our minds in the form of resentment, which leads to hate, and encourages us to keep a pure heart.  “He said ‘Only the pure in heart are going to see God.’ If you ain’t got no pure heart and you ain’t real, you ain’t going to see God,” he says. “That’s why I’m telling you, don’t let nobody get stuck in your heart and start hating them because if you ever get there you, I’m telling you, gonna cut your blessings off, you’re gonna cut your flow off. You got to ask God to help you to forgive them and you got to walk in a pure heart.” Listen as Pastor Perkins reminds us to be wary that “the devil is working on your mind, he’s making you think that the situation is worse than it really is” and to claim the blood of Jesus to protect our hearts.
