COVID-19 Tips from Dr. Bell Pt. 2:
Special Message for the African American Population

Today, Dr. Thaddeus Bell discusses two new fronts on which African Americans, in particular, need to be careful at this new stage in the battle to contain COVID-19, namely: staying home and staying active.

“It is very well documented that COVID-19 is hitting a lot of African Americans that are at risk,” he says. Despite the recent reopening of barbershops, nail salons and other places African Americans frequent, he encourages everyone to “Continue practicing social distancing and stay your butt at home.”

He also warns against being physically inactive while staying home. Especially now, he says, “You have to continue practicing a healthy lifestyle.” Dr. Bell recommends 30-minute walks, watching how much you eat and drink and being especially careful if you are diabetic or have other pre-existing blood sugar conditions. Most importantly, he says, “continue to get information from those qualified to give it.”
