This week, The Chef honors Black History Month with a visit from dear former colleague Dr. Edward Lee Johnson. Dr. Johnson and Chef dive into how the more surprising parts of slavery’s past reveal how the melting pot of modern society can live out God’s commandment to live in union. He says, “We [Black people] were the first identifiable civilization on the planet.” Listen Dr. Johnson goes affirms the biblical principle that “the kingdom of God comprises people of all ethnicities, all religions. And we just have to understand fundamentally what our roles are. Which is to be in relationship. The kingdom of God is relational, not hierarchical. And we have a struggle with trying to complete, when the reality is that we should be in relationship, completing one another.”
