“The Anointing: What It Is & What It Does” (2 Corinthians 1:21-22)
Dr. Jonathan Fowler | Improving Lives Church
This week, Dr. Jonathan Fowler opens with a prayer of healing, freedom, thanksgiving and activation before diving into a deep dive on anointing. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 says, “Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.” Dr. Fowler distills Paul’s meaning down to this: “Paul is letting us know that it is God that has anointed us and when He anoints us, He also seals us. So that we can maintain and operate with this anointing.” Listen as Dr. Fowler clarifies exactly what anointing is and what it enables us to do: “When we talk about the anointing the anointing is not what we do in church because many people equate the anointing to running and jumping and shouting… but the anointing is the enablement of God, the ability of God, the power of God that enables us to function beyond our human ability. So, although we may hold tight in position in the natural it is the anointing that call us to be effective. For we know the anointing will enable us to do what we’ve never been taught to do.”
