This week, Pastor Kevin Brown continues his series on grace and law by clarifying what the biblical narrative is really about: “A King, His Kingdom and His children,” the place of laws in that Kingdom and what determines our citizenship in it: “In any kingdom, in any country, there have to be laws. So, in this country, when you were born into this country you became a citizen. You became a citizen of this country, not because you kept laws, but because you were born in this country.” (Matt. 4:17) Listen as he peels back the myth that keeps many of from grasping our true relationship to law and therefore, God Himself: “This is where a lot of us miss it. Laws don’t make you righteous. Jesus makes you righteous… lose your religious mindset. Because the Kingdom of God is a country. When Jesus came, He said ‘Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.’ A kingdom. I didn’t come to bring you a religion. I came to bring your what? A kingdom.” (Matt. 4:17)
