Lowcountry Forever: Exchange Club of Charleston & WandoCon – Apr. 5, 2026

SEGMENT #1:
GUEST: Tony Guiliani, Scholarship Committee Member
ISSUE: Education
While most people think of the Exchange Club of Charleston as the organization that puts on each year’s Coastal Carolina Fair, the reach of the club in the community is much deeper. Each year since the early 1980s, the club has awarded scholarships to deserving Lowcountry students, handing out more than $300,000 in scholarships during the program’s history. Tony Guiliani is past Exchange Club President and a current member of the Scholarship Committee and explained the reasons why the club is investing in education. Guiliani detailed the scholarships being awarded, the Youth of the Year and Accepting the Challenge of Excellence scholarships, and provided details on what area seniors and/or their parents need to do to receive consideration for one of the six being handed out.

SEGMENT #2:
GUEST: Cody Dean, Children’s Specialty Associate
ISSUE: Community Services
Back for a second year, the now annual Wando Mount Pleasant Library WandoCon event will take place on Saturday, April 11th. Cody Dean, a Children’s Specialty Associate at the Wando Library and one of the main organizers for the event shared the reason WandoCon began and how the event has grown in its second year. Dean ran through the events that will be taking place during the free WandoCon event and provided descriptions of the panels, contests and vendors that would be a part of the day. To bridge the generational gap at the event, Dean broke down what anime is and shared his take on the difference between “comic books” and “graphic novels.” Dean was also able to share how this event assisted the library on a large scale, bringing more youths to experience their complex.
