Earlier this month, the South Carolina Arts Commission designated a four-block area of downtown Summerville a Cultural District. Summerville is now one of only 13 such districts in South Carolina, and the only one in Charleston, Berkeley or Dorchester Counties.  Cassie Ford is the Tourism Director for the Greater Summerville/Dorchester Chamber of Commerce and shared how the designation came about and the individuals and organizations that came together to make it happen.  Additionally, she provided details on the almost 25 elements in that area that factored into the Arts Commission making the designation and discussed how this would benefit the residents of Summerville. Ford also explained her roles with the town and how much benefit tourism brings to the Summerville economy.

SEGMENT #2: Dominion Energy
GUEST: Paul Fischer, Spokesperson

Each holiday season, the employees of Dominion Energy assist families in need through their Good Neighbor Fund. What most people don’t realize is that the Good Neighbor Fund isn’t just active during the holiday season, but rather all year long. Paul Fischer, a spokesperson for Dominion Energy South Carolina explained how employees not only fund the program, but also select the families that get assistance through the Good Neighbor Fund. Since Dominion Energy agents are visiting homes across the Palmetto State, they are able to personally see these needs. Fischer shared one of the Good Neighbor Fund project this holiday season, and well as providing information on things customers can do to save on their energy bill, plus the how those in need can receive assistance paying their bill.
