“Stand Still” (Exodus 14:5-14)
Rev. Dr. Isaac Holt, Jr. | Royal Missionary Baptist Church

“Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD.” (Exodus 14:13) This week, Rev. Dr. Isaac Holt, Jr. teaches us how to stand still: 1) be obedient and 2) have patience. Using the story of the children of Israel being pursued and trapped by Pharaoh’s army after leaving Egypt, Pastor Holt explains “If you read Deuteronomy 8:2, God said ‘There’s a reason I took them the long way. The first thing was to humble them and the next thing was to prove them. To see what was really in their heart. Whether they would obey me or not when we get where we going.” “See a lot of us ask God for wonders and miracles and God wants to show us what’s in our heart before we get the blessing. Because if you get the blessing without a new heart, you’ll just be an evil person with a blessing,” he says. Listen as Pastor Holt explains why God sometimes “takes us the long way” and what he’s looking for from us before we get the blessing: praise and obedience.
